Fall Frye

Fall Frye

When I think of fall there is one brand that automatically comes to mind. That brand is Frye. Who can resist the classic look and feel of those rustic browns and weathered leathers? Not me. I have been a Frye girl since 1976. That was the year I got my first pair of Frye boots for Christmas. I was in grade 9 and if you wanted any street cred at all, you needed to be sporting the Campus. Mine were banana yellow (a very popular colour in my high school) and I loved them. They just made me feel so much cooler whenever I had them on. That’s the enduring, timeless factor here: how a pair of Frye boots makes you feel. Just a little more relaxed and rebellious. It’s an intoxicating mix for a self-conscious 14 year old; or anybody else.

When we opened Buck’s Hard Goods the first brand I connected with was Frye. It’s been a partnership of mutual admiration. We are rustic and casual and so are they. We just get along so easily and effortlessly. And that is exactly what it’s like to wear a pair of Frye’s; instant easy, effortless style. You can wear them with jeans, leggings, shirt skirts, long skirts, shorts. There is nothing in my wardrobe that is not complemented, and actually elevated, by a pair of Frye boots.

This fall is no exception. Our customers love the look and feel of Frye boots and we routinely special order individual pairs (by style and colour) for true Frye aficionados. And there are some seriously loyal Frye girls in Oakville. This fall we’ve got the Melissa, the Sabrina, the Dylan (for your inner badass), the Phillip, the Kendall, the Karen and, of course, the Campus. We also carry numerous additional styles to round out your wardrobe.

So come in, try them on, and fall in love.

Yours in life&style,

Mother Bucker

Midnight Madness - We're All Mad Here

Midnight Madness - We're All Mad Here

This Friday July 14th marks the 40th annual Midnight Madness event in Oakville. It may not have the pomp and circumstance of the Canada 150 celebration but it is a milestone none the less. With shopping. I love Canada but a night out on the town with food, alcohol and shopping? Fuck yeah! I’m reminded of the catchphrase “Shop till You Drop”. To me, ‘Shop till You Drop’ always connoted a certain pussy-ness. Like you were too weak to make it to the finish line so you had to go home and take a nap. Not me. When it comes to shopping I don’t drop. I don’t even break a sweat. Of course, you’ve gotta pace. That means stopping at intervals to fuel up and reload. That’s what coffee shops are for.

For Midnight Madness though, alcohol enters the equation. Alcohol and shopping can be a sloppy affair. You’ve gotta pick your poison. Mine is caffeine with a side of sugar. Bars, squares, ice-cream, cupcakes, cake-pops; take your pick. You have tons to choose from in Downtown Oakville. Personally, I recommend Tribeca Coffee for uh, coffee (and cookie dough) and Sweet Bites for cake pops. Sooooo good!

If alcohol is your shopping companion then please feel free to come by and pick up one of our Trixie and Milo stainless steel flasks so you have a tidy little container to keep your juice in. This works especially well for every day after Midnight Madness because drinking out of a paper LCBO bag is not the fashion statement.

This brings us to the sales, deals, bargains, discounts, door-crashers, blow-outs etc; the evening’s headliner. There will be sales and I don’t care who you are and/or your net worth, everybody loves a sale. One of the best things about working in Downtown Oakville is checking out what everybody has to offer. I can assure you that we will all be taking turns running out to see what Mendocino, V.O.C, Boa, Roots, and Lole has on sale. Of course, for us Buckers, clothing are the accessories and leather boots, shoes and sandals are the main event. We believe your OOTD starts from the ground up.

This is our 3rd Midnight Madness event and our selection and our deals are the sweetest ones yet. ALL regular priced footwear is on sale in store. Every. Single. Style. Discounts range from 25% - 70% off Dolce Vita, Frye, Vans, Free People, Palladium, Lucky Brand, Steve Madden, Bueno, Matisse, Ted Baker, Miz Mooz, Sam Edelman, Woolrich, Sol Sana, and Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn, to name a few (trust me, we’ve got others). Additionally, all our kick-ass leather bags are 30% off (including Frye, Lowell and Venque).

But wait; there’s more! A major freebie - we’re raffling off a pair of Superga sneakers to one lucky guy or girl. We’ve got em’ in a wide variety of colours and sizes so you can have your pick. Just come in and fill out a ballot before midnight, at which point, we will pull one lucky winner’s name out of a hat, along with a rabbit and turn into pumpkins cuz that’s when the madness really kicks in….

See you there,

Motherbucker and all the little Buckers
